Another dice game, you say. No big fuss, you say… Well, it is a bit more than just that. Qwinto combines the color of the dice with the number of pips rolled to score points. Each turn, you decide which dice to roll, choosing up to 3 colors (yellow, orange and purple). The result of your roll must be written on a row of a matching color on your score sheet.
There are a couple of basic rules to be respected when entering the result: the values must be in ascending order from left to right in a row. Duplicates are not allowed, so no numbers can appear twice, in a row or a column. Placement of your result is key as you can only pass 4 times, also known as failed attempts, following those rules.
The game finishes when a player has filled out 2 colored rows or when a player records 4 failed attempts. Then you check the score sheets and the players with the most points wins.
So, we have colors, rows, columns, failed attempts, ascending numbers, no duplicates and because developers are nice they leave the final scoring to BGA, one less thing to be concerned with. And we forgot to mention pentagons, but we will let you figure this one out… So, Qwinto is definitely more than just a dice game. And it was included in the list of Spiel des Jahres recommended games upon release.

Qwinto: Vrstice kock
Še ena igra s kockami, pravite. Brez velikega hrupa, pravite ... No, to je malo več kot le to. Qwinto združuje barvo kocke s številom vrženih pikov, da doseže točke. Vsak krog se odločite, katero kocko boste vrgli, pri čemer izberete do 3 barve (rumeno, oranžno in vijolično). Rezultat vašega meta mora biti zapisan v vrstico ujemajoče se barve na vašem listu za rezultate.
Pri vnosu rezultata je treba upoštevati nekaj osnovnih pravil: vrednosti morajo biti v vrstici v naraščajočem vrstnem redu od leve proti desni. Podvojene številke niso dovoljene, zato se nobena številka ne sme pojaviti dvakrat, ne v vrstici ne v stolpcu. Uvrstitev rezultata je ključna, saj lahko po teh pravilih opravite le 4 neuspešne poskuse.
Igra se konča, ko igralec izpolni 2 barvni vrstici ali ko zabeleži 4 neuspešne poskuse. Nato se preverijo listi z rezultati in igralec z največ točkami zmaga.
Torej, imamo barve, vrstice, stolpce, neuspešne poskuse, naraščajoče številke, brez podvajanj in ker so razvijalci prijazni, končno točkovanje prepustijo BGA, ena stvar manj, s katero bi se morali ukvarjati. In pozabili smo omeniti petkotnike, ampak to bomo pustili vam, da sami ugotovite ... Torej, Qwinto je vsekakor več kot le igra s kockami. In ob izidu je bil uvrščen na seznam priporočenih iger Spiel des Jahres.
