I think adding confirmation to these actions would be a great quality of life improvement for the game. While I am a lot less likely to knowingly make this mistake again, I think it would be beneficial for everyone if mis-clicks and similar errors in these situations (where the action is irreversible) were less punishing.
Here is a game were I discarded antigravity generator to Pluto. I had 7 science tags and thought I was playing the card... Slightly ruined my game. It also happened to the other players at least once.

The confirmation button should say something like,
"WARNING. This may cause the game to crash resulting in a forfeit. Confirm action anyway."
Ideally, that will stop people from placing a tile that draws cards, which cannot be undone, and then needing to forfeit because the game cannot proceed if the player cannot pay the cost of placing the tile there.
You must confirm Pass for this GENERATION on your next turn, cannot be undone

I just tried placing a tile on The South pole when I had 4 MC and there was one ocean on the map.
The existence of that one Ocean would mean I could play on the South pole, place the ocean next to the existing one, gain 2 MC, and then have the 6 MC needed.
But the interface blocked me from placing the tile on the South Pole.
